Brett Mikeska

     Wingate Gin

     Wingate, Texas

Sixty four years and four generations of Mikeska's have been involved with the ginning business in West Texas, Brett Mikeska continues the tradition today in Wingate. Brett’s Great Grandfather started the family business in Placedo, Texas and in 1941 moved the operation to Eola where he built his gin from the ground up. In 1963 Brett’s father started Wingate Gin Corporation in Wingate and still plays a very active role in the business. Brett is quick to point out that his father made the business what it is today.

Today, Brett is Owner/Manager of Wingate Gin Corp. which owns Big Springs Gin Co., managed by his brother Brad. Along with the ginning operation Brett has farmed wheat, cotton and cattle since 1986. The main objective of the Ginning Corporation is to do a good job ginning cotton and maximize returns for their farm customers. Beltwide has played an important role in achieving that goal. Brett and more than 30 percent of his gin customers have used Beltwide Cotton Cooperative since 2001 to market their cotton. They do this because “it allows for easy access to above average prices.”

Brett is a graduate of Angelo State University with a BA in Business. He and wife Sherri have four boys with whom Brett enjoys hunting and camping with. Bryant, the oldest is 16, Braden -13, Bryce-10, and Brendon – 7. With four boys it is a safe bet the family ginning tradition will continue.

Brett is a volunteer at the Wingate Fire Department, Current Director of Texas Independent Ginners Association and a member of the Lions Club.

We are extremely proud to have Brett serve on the Board of Directors of Beltwide.
